Our Sourcing

In the beginning we started growing everything on our farm ;however as the customer base increased it was not possible to grow all food demanded by customers on one farm , hence we started co-operative farming with similar minded farmers who truly care for the health of their soil and have been doing organic farming since 10+ years. Our main group of farmers is near Ugaon, Niphad (Near Nashik , Maharashtra)  and this range might seem wide but we have developed trust with these farmers through a period of 5 years. First step for us is to check for certification; but more than that we do prefer to be involved in the farming operations and methods and get to know the farmer better personally, social verifications around the farm for the methods they use. Most of the famers being marginal , sometimes certifications not affordable for them , in these we do try to help them financially to obtain and maintain certification renewals etc. Most of these farmer groups are PGS certified but still renewals are not affordable for them every year. In such cases , for fresh produce (Vegetables & Fruits) we check for sustainable and organic practices and do not ask for certificate. We do random lab testing sometimes only of the produce to keep a check on authenticity of the produce. But past 5 years , we have established a good ecosystem with this farmer group and the produce coming to us has been nothing but the best . The difference is quality consistency , taste as native seeds are used using seed harvesting , texture and difference when cooking.

We encourage you to trust the efforts taken to grow this natural produce ; however in case of additional verification needed , we can assist you to get the produce lab-tested. As lab testing for every item is expensive , we only do random testing for our vegetables and fruits. However , all our packaged and processed grocery items are Ecocert certified . You can find the details at the back of packaging.

Meet Our Founder

spent nine years in Germany, pursuing post-graduate and Ph.D. research in rice soil. In February 2019, I returned to India, shifting my focus to organic farming. I initiated my own farm near Bhor, Pune, aiming to understand every aspect of farming. Throughout this odyssey, I had the privilege of engaging with a multitude of seasoned organic farmers. Recognizing the immense value in their expertise, I initiated the formation of a cooperative farming model. , ensuring fair compensation for their expertise.

My intention was to harness their profound understanding of organic farming and facilitate the establishment of a mechanism to bring their exceptional, naturally cultivated produce to our city while ensuring they receive the just compensation they rightfully merit.

The overarching aspiration of Bio Basket harmoniously aligns with my passion for the well-being of soil health. It revolves around the creation of sustainable farms that prioritize the preservation of natural soil health for the benefit of future generations. The ultimate objective is to provide access to wholesome, natural food, thereby contributing to the realization of this vision.
